This recipe is a fancy twist on one of our favorite comfort foods - grilled cheese sandwiches! The sourdough bread and freshly grated blend of cheese are perfectly complimented by a drizzle of elderberry balsamic reduction and a rich, creamy dip.
Ingredients

10 slices Sourdough Bread
- 8 oz grated mozzarella cheese
- 8 oz grated sharp cheddar cheese
- 1-4 oz butter
- Dried or fresh minced rosemary and sage

½ cup elderberry balsamic vinegar
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Carmel Berry Co. Elderberry syrup
- ½ cup mayonnaise
For the Grilled Cheese
Elderberry Vinegar Glaze and Dip
Directions
In a small saucepan, mix 1 tablespoon brown sugar into ½ cup Carmel Berry Co. Elderberry Balsamic Vinegar.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer and stir occasionally.
- When it’s reduced by about half and coats the back of a spoon, remove from heat.
- Drizzle over your sandwich, sauteed vegetables, or even ice cream! Hold back 2 tablespoons for your elderberry dip.
- To make your dip, mix 2 tablespoons Elderberry balsamic reduction into ½ cup mayonnaise, then stir in 1 tablespoon Carmel Berry Co. Elderberry Syrup. A delicious companion to your grilled cheese sandwiches!
